The stork just told us that you have welcomed a new baby into the world! We would like to express our congratulations and joy for the recent addition to your family. We know that this must be a very exciting time and that you must be enchanted by the presence of your new bundle of joy.
Dr. De Brine feels a responsibility to inform her patients about certain health concerns in newborns. The birth process can be very traumatic on the spine. Drugs administered during labor, unnatural birthing positions, pulling and twisting of the baby, and invasive procedures like forceps, vacuuming extraction, and C-section can cause overwhelming stress to the infant's spine, resulting in subluxations that interfere with the normal communication (nerve transmission) between the brain and body. Even Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), has been traced to cervical trauma during childbirth.
It is important that newborns have their spines examined immediately after birth and through every stage of life – when they begin to raise their head, learn to crawl, and take their first steps. Chiropractic adjustments are gentle and safe in newborns, and will ensure proper nerve supply, chemical balance, and life energy to the newborn's nerves, organs, and systems; remove trauma to the spine and neck caused by childbirth or other activities related to being an active child; and ensure that the newborn's spine grows in proper alignment through every stage of growth and development.
Some of our new moms have expressed gratitude when their babies have been relieved from ear infections and Colic. We all know how important sleep is, and how easily these conditions can hinder a good night's rest. Aside from granting you a little more sleep each night, chiropractic care can also help remedy the tremendous physical and chemical changes and emotional stress that are experienced by new mothers. (And don't forget about daddy!)
Dr. De Brine and the office staff are always available for any questions or concerns patients may have about their care, so feel free to ask or bring them to our attention. They look forward to beginning your treatment and following your progress as you experience the benefits of chiropractic care.
